SOPHIE OLSON
Creative Director/Choreographer
Sophie Olson is a passionate choreographer and creative director whose deep love for dance has fueled her career, allowing her to work across a vast array of performance and entertainment platforms. Her early fascination with movement was sparked by the iconic Solid Gold Dancers of the 80s, and she has spent the past 30 + years honing her craft as both a performer, choreographer and creative director. From world tours with the Walt Disney Company to performing with avant-garde Canadian dance shows, Sophie’s career has been marked by diverse experiences that have shaped her unique artistic vision.
As a creative director, Sophie has brought her expertise to a wide range of projects, from large-scale corporate events and immersive themed entertainment experiences to high-profile weddings and private parties. She has worked on choreography and direction for events that demand not only technical precision but also a strong emotional connection with the audience. Whether curating dance performances for corporate gala dinners, designing choreographed moments for theme parks, or leading a creative team for a luxury brand launch, Sophie’s ability to blend art with entertainment ensures each project is memorable and impactful.
In the world of film and television, Sophie has left a lasting imprint with her choreography for major shows, including Comedy Central, So You Think You Can Dance on FOX, New Girl, Bless the Harts, and Ghost Ghirls, among others. She also worked as a choreographer and creative consultant on the rock-and-roll revue Raiding the Rock Vault in Las Vegas. Her directorial debut, La Femme, a short dance film, received widespread acclaim, winning multiple awards at the Los Angeles Women’s International Film Festival, including Best Director, Best Experimental Film, and Best Editor.
Beyond dance, Sophie has developed a strong presence in the world of Marriage Media—combining her choreography expertise with her eye for storytelling to craft unforgettable wedding experiences. She brings her creative vision to every aspect of the ceremony and reception, from the first dance to choreographed surprise performances that delight guests and create unforgettable moments.
Having served as the artistic director for her own contemporary-hop dance company, Sophie Olson Dance Explosion, for 18 years, Sophie has a proven track record of leadership and innovation in the dance world. She is also known for her expertise in casting, conceptualization, and event entertainment, which allows her to curate highly personalized experiences for clients in both the public and private spheres.
Sophie’s work transcends the boundaries of traditional choreography, blending commercial dance with artistic expression to create powerful narratives that resonate deeply with audiences. Her relentless creativity and passion for collaboration allow her to turn ideas into fully realized performances, whether it’s for a corporate event, a themed entertainment experience, or a life-changing event like a wedding.
